• We speak of drawing a line in the sand to describe an end to whatever limit of patience or acceptability of behavior we will tolerate. But at the edge of the ocean the waves will wash away the line in the sand, and in the desert the wind will sweep it away. Likewise our personal boundaries are swept away by this or that spirit or mood.
